So here’s the thing – with a small business, like life itself, there are many things, both big and small, that can have an impact.
The big one for me today is the recent change in the US$/ GBP exchange rate as I plan to import more bags direct from companies in the USA, and the one I am looking at today is Mountainsmith.
I am a huge fan of the lumbar packs from Mountainsmith – they are hugely versatile and are especially good if you are trying to avoid neck strain that you may get with a rucksack, or have issues with your shoulders or back, so I really want to keep stocking them.
Unfortunately the recent changes in the exchange rate means that it will cost me a lot more to import them – nearly 20% more.
This has caused quite a bit of pen-chewing and soul-searching as there’s only so much fluctuation in price I can absorb so I’ve had to take the difficult decision to raise the prices of the bags once the new stock is for sale.
I hope this goes some way towards explaining why the prices will be increasing soon.
